Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 38 of our spin-off show about the weird world of softcore skin-flicks!
After almost a year away from the series, we return to the Emmanuelle franchise with 2003’s Emmanuelle in Rio. Except, it was never actually meant to be an Emmanuelle film - it was just meant to be a cheaply made improvised Alain Siritzky production made in Rio, but then no one wanted anything to do with it, so he redubbed it and shoved the Emmanuelle name on it. It is definitely cheaply made and improvised at least. It’s kind of like watching a drama class doing their first improv session, but with interminable amounts of stock footage and dull sex scenes thrown in to pad the whole thing out. On the other hand, there is some very weird and compelling dialogue. Does it balance it out? Well, no. But it probably makes for some good clips on this episode?
Plus, we look at the man behind the camera for this hot mess: Kevin Alber, who had quite a career as a casting director and actor, and then a moderately successful career as a director, before Emmanuelle in Rio happened to him. He’s never directed or acted since. Probably the whole experience broke him. Completely understandable.
