Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 51 of your guide to the truly astonishing world of softcore films, and the world’s number one podcast on that subject!
This episode, we look at 1995’s Tina and the Professor. This might be the most obscure film we’ve done. It is almost definitely the weirdest film we’ve done. It’s, effectively, a softcore vanity project: written by, directed by, produced by, and stars a jovial, middle aged, eye-patch wearing maniac named Stan Haze. As the title suggests, it’s about a young woman named Tina (played by Roxanne Blaze, who took the porn world by storm in 1993 then left for more mainstream fare, but actually ended up in this), who falls for her college animal husbandry professor, who is a jovial, middle aged, eye-patch wearing maniac named Gorman Lenox (played by Stan Haze). It is also about Tina fantasising about her roommate, and hunky quarterback Dylan, and kind of also a gross drug dealer named Drexel, but also a little bit about Tina taking a very extreme and disturbing kind of revenge on a girl who tips a Slurpee on her head, and also a lot about the different types of dairy cows and beef cattle and horses and the various diseases each are susceptible to.
We were joined by Matt from Compañeros Radio Network sister shows Movie Melt and Songs on Trial, and also our good bud Avery from For the Story. We got quite drunk recording this one, because we had to. It’s that kind of movie. You’ll understand.
Naturally, we looked at the life and times of Stan Haze. You (very likely) have never heard of Stan Haze, but he had roles in House Party, Alligator, Don't Answer the Phone!, and also episodes of Sanford and Son, Hardcastle and McCormick, Hill Street Blues, and more. But of course we don’t stop there! We went to a special source, who worked with him on an unreleased movie he made after Tina and the Professor called The Magnificent Seven Biker Babes: legendary actress and one of the loveliest people ever to work in film, Honey Lauren! She gave us the inside scoop on Stan, his work methods, his skills as a director, his skills as a financial manager, his horse and llama ranch, and even why he was wearing an eye-patch by the ‘90s! Thanks Honey!
This is the real deal. Maybe our most unmissable episode ever! You’ll find out more about Tina and the Professor and Stan Haze on this episode of Get Soft than anywhere else - that’s our guarantee to you!
